A few weeks ago I ruminated on the takeover of car maker Opel (Vauxhall in the UK) by PSA the group that owns the car manufacturers Citroen and Peugeot. You can read that story here. You see I ruminated on how platform sharing might work between PSA and Opel. I had a few head scratching moments on this one. However, things have changed. I was on the Vauxhall website earlier today when I came across the new Crossland X car. Looks nice enough and could work for my needs. This is where I need to eat some humble pie and although it remains to be seen possibly more than one slice. You see apart from this car seeming to be right and more than capable for my needs it is actually heavily based on the Peugeot 2008 platform! I have not been able to arrange to have a look at one in the flesh yet, car dealers are often closed on Sundays and I am not even sure if the car is in the dealerships yet. I have had a good look around the internet at various reviews and things look very good indeed. On paper at least it seems that some of this merger now could work quite well. I was considering a Vauxhall Mokka but from the internet it might be a Crossland X! So there you have it, potentially I have been proved wrong! It is very rare that this happens! I! am looking forward to a test drive!
